With Love, to Redneck Mommy

 

In honor of the lovely Tanis' new little boy, the ladies of Better than a Playdate are throwing her a little shower, and asking the momosphere (and dadosphere) to write up how you know if you're a redneck mommy.  Tanis, whose heart is bigger than a double-wide trailer, is adopting a little boy with special needs.  You can help out by sending a donation via Paypal to coolmompicks@gmail.com.

You know you're a redneck mommy when...

• Your kid wears a nicotine patch, and he's 9.

• Your pickup sports a bumper sticker that says "My kid is an honor student at the County Juvenile Detention Center"

• When it's your turn to be Snack Mom, you bring Cheetos, Slim Jims, and Coors Light.

• Your PTA Auction donation is "An Evening of Poledancing Lessons," taught by you, in your home.

• Your kids get to skip school on the opening day of dove hunting season.

• You think My Name is Earl is a Reality Show.

• Your daughter has a tiny butterfly tattoo on her hip, right above the diaper tape.

• You can't drive carpool because your minivan is up on blocks in the front yard.

• Your backseat seatbelts are broken, so you just duct tape the kids in when you're driving them to skeet shooting practice.

• Your kids' playscape in the backyard is made of cinderblocks, PVC pipes, and chickenwire.

• Your kids are all named after characters on Scooby Doo, and all of them have the middle name "Wayne."
• You have a multi-person Snuggie.

All kidding aside, you really know you're a redneck mommy when your heart gets shattered time and again and yet you find the courage to piece it back together and open it up to a child who needs you as much as you need him.
